“The RIFs have begun,” Office of Budget and Management Director Russ Vought announced on X Friday. That’s government shorthand for “reduction in force “– the permanent removal of federal government workers, as promised by the Trump Administration, after Senate Democrats dug in their heels on their demands for funding for public broadcasting and free healthcare for illegal immigrant, refusing to pass a federal budget without those expenditures.
President Donald Trump said that many of the RIFs will be from Democrat-heavy agencies: “It’ll be a lot and it’ll be Democrat-oriented because we figure they started this thing… It’ll be a lot of people – all because of the Democrats.”
Agencies impacted include Housing and Urban Development, Education, Health and Human Services, Treasury, Commerce, and EPA. Notices started going out on Friday afternoon, Eastern time.
The entire Community Financial Institutions Fund workforce, about 100 in all, received layoff notices.
This marks the 11th such shutdown in modern US history, stemming from Congress’s failure to pass appropriations for fiscal year 2026.
Its not what President Trump wanted, he URGED US Senate and House Democrats to not let this happen else layoffs would be necessary during the shutdown
I personally believe US federal government and local state governments are TOO BIG and needs reduction
I doubt that you actually know very much about the workings of the Government, or its size, etc. You simply repeat what you hear.
You are correct in the assumption Tina knows little about the bloated government but thanks to Elons help with DOGEing the wasteful spending we have all become self educated on the real waste that was consuming our national debt when Democrats pay their constituents through handouts at taxpayer expense.
We thank everyone besides main stream media moguls who reported the waste and the resulting cuts to eliminate it.
Yes, this is what I voted for, and then some.
It’s a good start. Start with an axe, then switch to more delicate tools to make the refined cuts.
Most definitely ‘YES” this is what I voted for.
Yes and even more. Bring DOGE to Alaska and get busy.
