The US National Guard has surpassed its recruiting goals for 2025, capping off a year in which all five military services met their targets early. Pentagon officials said the achievement reflects a broader trend of strong enlistment across the armed forces.
Nearly 50,000 new members joined the Army and Air National Guard during fiscal year 2025, bringing the Guard’s total strength to more than 433,000, according to the National Guard Bureau. Officials credited growing interest among young Americans in career training, long-term stability, and opportunities in more than 200 Guard specialties.
The announcement came during the War Department’s Weekly Sitrep video briefing, where officials also highlighted partnerships abroad, particularly with Canada. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth met with Canadian National Defense Minister David McGuinty at the Pentagon on Sept. 22. The two emphasized the importance of cooperation through the North American Aerospace Defense Command and discussed ways to modernize joint operations.
The department also pointed to its expanding social media outreach as part of an effort to increase transparency. Officials said engagement on the Secretary of War’s platforms has risen nearly tenfold compared to last year, with impressions and interactions breaking records.
In a separate move, Hegseth disbanded the Defense Advisory Committee for Women in the Services. Pentagon officials said the committee had become a distraction from readiness and that recent increases in female recruitment suggested the decision would not hinder enlistment.
Now WE need to keep a conservative administration at the helm for at least a dozen years. Getting woke 🐂💩 out of executive leadership will, clearly, do more than anything else to restore our nation to a state of preparedness.
But how many Transamabobs did they recruit?? Thats the REALLY important number!!
