Church under attack? Shooting and explosive fire in Michigan leave four dead, six injured

A Sunday morning worship service at a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc turned into tragedy when a man drove into the building, opened fire, and set it ablaze, leaving four people dead and six others wounded, according to local authorities.

The incident began around 10:45 am. EDT, when the suspect rammed his vehicle into the church before entering with a firearm. Police say he shot multiple people inside before igniting a fire that rapidly consumed the structure.

Grand Blanc Township police reported “multiple victims” shortly after 11 am. Officers at the scene engaged and fatally shot the gunman, who has been identified as a 40-year-old man from nearby Burton. His name has not yet been released.

During an afternoon press conference, police confirmed 10 victims in total.vSeveral of the injured remain in critical condition and were transported to local hospitals.

The fire escalated to a fifth-alarm blaze, leading to a collapse of the building. Crews contained the flames by approximately 12:43 pm. A primary search of the structure was delayed due to the severity of the fire and risk of entrapment inside; there may be more victims. Investigators also discovered an improvised explosive device at the scene, which was secured by authorities.

The FBI and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are assisting with the investigation. Officials say the suspect’s motive is unclear, and no affiliations or claims of responsibility have been disclosed.

The attack comes amid a rise in hostility toward churches nationwide. The Family Research Council and Catholic Vote have documented roughly 150 incidents targeting churches this year, including six shootings at churches or church-affiliated schools.

Grand Blanc, a township of about 40,000 residents, is located 50 miles north of Detroit and seven miles southeast of Flint, an area dominated by the hard left.

  1. Three days and counting and there are no new stories over at MRAK. I sense panic. Are they plating “Let’s Make a Deal” with SD??

  2. Will we know if he has tires to Al-Jeezra and Isis publications?
Within the last month after Sept 10th the publications have called American Muslims to attack the Christians and Jews on Europe and American targeting their places of worship and homes. The FBI Administrators they don’t want to do anything yet though they know of the recent press releases. Their admins just dismiss it as “ohhh it’s just propaganda” instead of looking at it as a serious threat against Americans and America security.

  3. For church going people are there instructors who can teach leadership how to put together a security team and train for such terror attacks

They don’t even have to pay someone to train a group in their church while the internet is full of security training resources offered free by other Christians sharing the law enforcement work skills they acquired

The institution church leaders have a duty to protect and their members and visitors coming to services
Today is 2025 our country’s schools and churches should be the safest places considering how many attacks have already been against them
