Gen. ‘Raizin’ Caine warns of aligned adversaries and calls for stronger US military readiness

Gen. Dan “Raizin” Caine, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, delivered a stark warning during a hastily gathered Department of Defense meeting on Tuesday, stressing that the United States faces rising global threats and must act with unity and resolve.

“We are living in dynamic and potentially dangerous times,” Caine said. “Our adversaries are no longer aligning — they are aligned — and we must align with equal resolve and unity. Even as we strive for and seek peace, we must be prepared for war!”

Caine pointed to “rising global risks” from adversaries such as China and Russia, emphasizing that cooperation among rival powers has created an unprecedented level of challenge for US national security.

In addition to calling for strengthened readiness, the general urged changes to the rules of engagement. He argued that US forces must have greater flexibility in confronting adversaries. Caine said the military should be able to “intimidate, demoralize, hunt, and kill the enemies” more aggressively in order to deter hostile actions.

The top-level military gathering was convened amid escalating tensions in multiple regions. Caine’s remarks reflected a heightened sense of urgency within the Pentagon over the global security environment.

During the same meeting, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth issued a bold directive to raise fitness standards across the armed forces. He argued that restoring toughness, discipline, and readiness is essential if the United States is to deter adversaries and prevail in conflict.

At top meeting, Hegseth declares end of ‘woke garbage’ in military: ‘We’re done with that sh*t’
